Solar Power
What is Solar Power?
Solar power is a specific type of renewable, or green energy that comes from the Sun. To create solar power, special panels are arranged where sunlight will hit them. Sunlight will then continuously contact the panels throughout the day, and be converted into electrical energy. This method has some significant upsides and downsides. Since there is no earthly resource being consumed, solar power generation is fairly passive. However, on the flip side, solar power is much less efficient on cloudy days and at night. Additionally, Solar panels can come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes that are available to consumers.
Consumer Solar Panels
Consumer solar panels range from small, and pocket-sized, to so large that they only fit in your yard or on your roof. Each type comes with advantages and drawbacks. Larger panels for your house can help to offset monthly electric bills, however, they can be fairly expensive on their own they and can have a monthly. Additionally, some house roofs are not oriented in such a way as to support solar panels. On the other hand, small panels are generally fairly cheap and easy to set up on the go, pretty much anywhere, but they aren't useful for much other than charging other small devices, like a smartphone.
